Author
My Favorite Books

Not only am I an author, I am an avid reader as well.  Sometimes, I am so totally lost in
the world of another author that I have a great deal of trouble coming back to mine. I
appreciate a well-crafted sentence or paragraph the way some people appreciate fine
wine.

My favorite author of all time is Pat Conroy.
The Prince of Tides is a modern
masterpiece and his autobiography,
My Losing Season, is positively heart-wrenching.
In my wildest dreams, I could never be a writer of his caliber.  If you haven't read any
of his novels, I strongly encourage you to do so.  Larry McMurtry's
Lonesome Dove  is
probably my second favorite novel. The Mitford series by Jan Karon tugged at my
heart as it reminded me of my mom's hometown. I am also a huge fan of Fannie Flagg.

Daisy Fay And The Miracle Man had me rolling on the floor (and of course, Fannie
was superb on the old Match Game)!

I must admit, I loved reading books with my daughter when she was little.  Not for her
sake, but for mine!  I l adore children's books and together we thoroughly enjoyed the
stories of Roald Dahl, Dr. Seuss, Beverly Cleary, etc.  We were also blessed to have
my daughter grow up with Harry Potter!  J.K. Rowling is my hero!  Her books have
meant so much to our family as we engaged in hour after hour of discussion and
speculation about her amazing stories.  It was a truly bitter-sweet moment in my life
when my daughter and I attended the last release party for
The Deathly Hallows.
Harry Potter has been an inextricable part of her childhood and for me, reading the
final page was like closing that chapter in her life (she thinks that I am sappy, of
course--get with the program, Mom, I'm 17, duh!)  Anyway, if you haven't read
them--
what planet have you been living on, for crying out loud!?

Naturally, I love mysteries as well.  I am a huge Lisa Scottoline fan, I enjoy Sarah
Graves, Sue Grafton, and Diane Mott-Davidson.  Meg Cabot makes me laugh and like
millions of others, I enjoy a great James Patterson yarn. And, of course, I must pay
homage to the high-priestess of my genre, Janet Evanovich, for whom I have reserved
both a special place on my bookshelf and in my heart!
